We first met Jon at the end of 10th grade. Celine’s grades were good but she had no ambition, few extracurriculars, and little hope. Jon changed that. He worked with her way more than we expected and found things to help her shine. What I appreciated the most was how Jon encouraged her to believe in herself and the work she was doing, especially with her Purpose Project. Without Jon, I don’t think Celine would be who she is today.
Even though I don’t enjoy essay writing, Jon made the process of writing over 20 essays much more manageable. He helped me identify my passions and gave me a great project idea that I ended up incorporating into my main personal statement. But the biggest bonus for me was rather than constantly dreading college applications and not knowing what to do about it, I felt like I was on top of things and confident in my application.
