At Telos College Consulting, we offer two types of services.

College Applications

For rising seniors (end of 11th grade or current 12th grade) who want expert guidance in putting together the strongest possible college essays and applications.

College Planning + Applications

A multiyear program that starts with College Planning and ends with College Applications. Especially recommended for students aiming for top 25 universities and/or those who would benefit from consistent, long-term coaching and mentorship — the best fit for families serious about college who want to start earlier than senior year (as early as 7th grade).

Telos Programs

Telos College Applications

For students finishing 11th grade or already in 12th, Telos College Applications is the key to putting together the best college application possible. A Head Counselor coordinates strategy, editing, and final review so no part of the application is overlooked.

Your application program is sized to your final school list. Whether that's UC and CSU campuses only, or UCs plus a list of private schools, the program is tiered by how many schools you apply to — and it covers every essay, supplement, short answer, and activity description that list requires. Most families start UC-only and add schools as the list comes into focus.

The UC & CSU Application Program is a targeted offering for students applying to California's public universities. The UC application is demanding — multiple essays, up to 20 activity descriptions, and a campus-by-campus strategy — and this program ensures students put their best foot forward from start to finish.

UC admissions vary by campus and by major, so the same student can look stronger or weaker depending on how the list is built. Your Head Counselor works with you on a campus-by-campus major strategy that reflects your actual academic interests and realistic chances of admission.

This program covers essay strategy, activity descriptions, and final review — so no part of the UC or Cal State application is overlooked.

The UC + Private Schools Application Program is our full-list offering. It is designed for students aiming at highly selective schools who want an expert in the room at every step.

Work typically starts the summer before senior year. Students meet regularly with their Head Counselor through application season, covering the Common App, UC application, supplements, and school-specific essays — whatever the final school list requires.

Early Action and Early Decision strategy is a critical part of this program: deciding whether, where, and how to use ED/EA is one of the highest-leverage decisions a senior makes. It ends with a coordinated final review of every application before submission.

Hourly Consultations

Subject to availability

Hourly Consultations are for students and families who need focused help on a specific piece of the application rather than an end-to-end program. Common use cases include polishing a single supplement, getting a final read-through of the whole application before submit, or working through a tricky "Why this college?" essay.

Because Hourly is booked individually, it is subject to team availability, which tends to be tightest between October and early December. Families who anticipate needing several hours of support during peak season are better served by the UC + Private Schools Application Program.

Telos College Planning + Applications

For students entering grades 7–11, Telos College Planning + Applications is the best way to prepare for top colleges and stay motivated throughout the process.

Every Telos program is built from a Strategic Foundation — a dedicated Head Counselor, Principal oversight, and a coordinated plan across courses, testing, activities, awards, summer strategy, recommendation letters, and college planning — with Signature Services layered on top, year by year, as your student needs them.

For independent students who want expert direction and a plan they own. You meet with your Head Counselor once a month to set the strategy for each year, then check progress and adjust course — without needing a meeting every week.

Our most common cadence, and the one most families land on. Biweekly is enough structure that Purpose Projects actually get built and academic choices get made intentionally rather than by default.

For students who need the most support and the tightest rhythm — typically students rebuilding study habits, or aiming at the most selective schools on a compressed timeline.

A self-directed project built over months that becomes the centerpiece of the application — and an accomplishment in its own right.

FAQs

What's the difference between Monthly, Biweekly, and Weekly counseling?

Only the meeting frequency. Every cadence includes the same Strategic Foundation — a dedicated Head Counselor, Principal oversight, and a coordinated plan across courses, testing, activities, awards, summer strategy, and college planning. Biweekly is our most common cadence; weekly is for students who need the most structure and accountability.

Can we add Signature Services later?

Yes. Signature Services are added year by year based on what your student actually needs, and your Head Counselor recommends what's worth doing when. Several running in the same year are bundled at a discount.

What if my student needs executive-function support?

That's exactly what EF Coaching is for. Students build a working system for time management, planning, and follow-through — taught one on one and built around their real schoolwork. It is frequently the service that makes the rest of the program work.

Is the UC & CSU Application Program only for California residents?

No. It is suitable for any student applying to University of California (UC) schools and California State University (CSU) campuses, regardless of residency.

Do you work with students outside California?

Yes. All Telos programs are offered virtually, and the Telos team has worked with students across the country and internationally since 2011.
