My Story

Fall 2005. I was a bright-eyed freshman and pre-med at one of the best schools in the country: UCLA. In addition to being accepted as a Regents Scholar (the highest honor for  an incoming freshmen), I had also secured a highly coveted research position in the UCLA Hospital Emergency Room. I was young, motivated, and ready to conquer the world.

Fast forward to sophomore year. I had dropped out of pre-med, was on the verge of losing my scholarship, and most discouraging of all… I had no idea what I was doing with my life.

My story of changing majors and finding a new career is by no means unique. However, the pain it caused–especially when compared to the purpose I now have–is why I am so passionate about helping students better understand 1) themselves 2) their goals and 3) their purpose. I believe helping students think about purpose is the key to unlocking their potential and talents.

When I think back to my high school years, I wish someone could have mentored me. Someone who understood my strengths and weaknesses. Someone who would ask me the tough questions and keep me accountable. Someone who could give me advice on how to prepare for college and maybe even life afterwards.

I didn’t have that someone then, but I want to be that someone now.

That is why I founded Telos College Consulting. I believe that building real relationships is the key to helping students find their purpose. And with purpose, anything is possible.
